Bible Study

Daughters of Isabella
This women’s group promotes service through spiritual and social activities. This is a city-wide organization that meets monthly at Assumption Church. Contact Margaret Lee, 478-9639.

Fall Festival
This celebration is held in November around the feast day of Christ the King. We celebrate our community with a dinner, games, raffles, silent auction and craft sale. This event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and other parish organizations. Contact Jane Hesse, 272-0473.

Funeral Dinners
This committee prepares a light lunch, upon request, after funerals held at Christ the King Church. The lunch is served in Yadrich Hall. To help serve lunch, or to donate food, contact Alvina Meyer, 272-6849, or Marci Ross, 478-0227, and Gerry Ann Hartsook, 478-0297.

Hayden High School
The Topeka Catholic High School (grades 9-12) that serves all of the Topeka Parishes. If interested, call Mark Madsen, 272-5210 ext. 16.

Knights of Columbus
Catholic men’s service and social organization of approximately 170 men which meets monthly to promote charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. ContactRichard Hatch, 478-9128.

Let’s Help
These volunteers meet once a month to prepare and serve a meal to the needy. Volunteers are divided into groups: those who prepare the meal and those who serve it. Contact Alvina Meyer, 272-6849.

Musicians:

Adult Choir: This group sings two to three times a month at the 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. liturgies from September to May. Practice is held every Thursday from 7:15 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. New members are always welcome. Contact Laura Smith, 478-1138.

Cantors: The cantor’s primary role is the lead the congregation in celebrating the liturgy through singing. Cantors meet periodically throughout the year. Contact Laura Smith, 478-1138.

English Handbell Choir: This group plays two to three times a month and for special liturgies. An ability to read music is needed. Practice from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Contact Laura Smith, 478-1138.

Liturgical Ensemble: This group plays for Mass twice a month.  Practices are on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Singers, guitarists, flutists and keyboardists are welcome. Contact Pat & Deb Sheehy, 273-0710.

Perpetual Adoration
Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at Christ the King began Nov. 7, 1993. We are always grateful for parishioners to commit one hour each week, and all are invited to do so. Contact Stan and Maxine Wiechert, 478-3849.

Prayer Network
The prayer network is an intercessory support group for our parish community. Volunteers spend time each day in prayer for the needs of the parish and special requests. Prayer requests are accepted throughout the week, and the requests are distributed to network members each weekend. In case of emergencies, such as accident, surgery, or death, all members are immediately contacted. Prayer requests are confidential. Participants are not bound to a certain prayer form or activity, serve with respect, without judgment and hold in confidence all that is shared. Quilters
The CTK Heavenly Quilters invite you to join their sessions on Wednesday mornings 9:00 – noon, and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Contact Barb Dennis, 273-3646, if interested.

Serra Club
Serra International is a worldwide organization dedicated to fostering vocations to the priesthood and religious life and to developing lay leaders who understand their own Christian vocation to service. Meetings are held the first and third Mondays of each month, rotating between the regional parishes. Contact President: Dr. Stanley Dennis, 273-3646, or Vocations: Barbara Dennis, 273-3646.

Ushers
This group serves many essential liturgical functions at Mass – seating the assembly, handling the collection, directing communicants to the altar, giving assistance in case of illness during Mass and distributing weekly bulletins.
